The Illusionist’s Assistant

victorian gentlemen short stories gay

Summary:

Meet Edward Wright: A young bachelor who leads a solitary life in London and works for Jeffery’s and Co, an American trading company.

When his only close friend, Colin Berker, manage to coax him into attending ‘Mr Chang’s extraordinary illusions and magic show’ at the Egyptian Hall, Edward is more than a little bit sceptical. At least, that is his solid and unwavering conviction, before the red, velvet curtains were drawn apart and the magical show begun.

Because after that, nothing will ever be the same again…

“Why not?” he asked. Our eyes met across the edges of the crisp newspapers. We were sitting opposite each other in comfortable burgundy leather armchairs in the smoking room at the Madison Club for Gentlemen, as we always did on Thursday evenings.”
